Unstructured Complementary Service Data (USSD), is a protocol used by GSM cellular telephones to communicate with the service provider's computers.
USSD can be used for WAP Browsing, Prepaid Callback Services, location based content services, menu based information services, and as part of configuring the phone on the network. They could either be Shared or Dedicated.
Short Codes, or short numbers, are short digit sequences, significantly shorter than telephone numbers, they are used to address messages in the Multimedia Messaging System (MMS) and short message service (SMS) systems of mobile network operators. In addition to messaging, they may be used in abbreviated dialing.
